Unity Thursday!!!

Hello friends!
It's hard to believe it's Thursday already and there's only one day left to go in May!
Where does the time go?

Today - there's NO NEW RELEASES...
(I'm sure your bank account and your hubby is relieved to hear that! lol.)
so we've decided to put together a fun hop for you using our regular 'membership' stamps!
There IS a SALE though -
and will let you know in a bit!

You should be arriving here from Shemaine's blog!

and here's the rest for your reference!
Andrea Murdock - http://www.mystampingheaven.blogspot.com/

Thienly Azim - YOU ARE HERE.

For those of you that are new to Unity -
there's FOUR memberships, and you can read all about them here:

All of these memberships ARE WORTH IT -
and I wouldn't be able to tell you which one I like the best as I would personally want them all!

Today - I've got a few projects to share with you -
the first one using the current KOM.

Father's Day is coming up and thought that it would be super cute to create a little 'tie' gift box!

 photo DSC_1434-1_zpsfcb2b5ad.jpg

Isn't this just so fun?
The TIE BOX is super fun and it's always so fun to embellish with Unity stamps!
I used the Echo Paper This & That collection (which I adore - just LOVE the color combo)

Excuse me for posting so many pics
(especially ones without stamps) -
but wanted to show you all the cute little details :)

 photo DSC_1444_zpse9d3935b.jpg

These glasses are PERFECT - just what I needed to give that 'accent' to the box.

 photo DSC_1440_zps095b08c4.jpg

The gentlemen in ties stamp is superb!
I love it and there's so many fun ways to use this stamp!
For this - I thought that it would be cute to just color and frame the main guy -
make it look like he's the ONE.

 photo DSC_1435_zps879bf990.jpg

Just been loving the 'stache accents lately.
(NOTE: Only on projects.
I would absolutely HATE that if my hubby grew one!)

 photo DSC_1455_zps6fd1e71a.jpg

Isn't the sentiment the best?
Haha... I'm sure it's so true!

 photo DSC_1446_zps2ec62cb5.jpg

I love mix and matching stamps from different kits as well!

The March KOM and SMAK were designed to 'kinda' coordinate together
and focus on the chalkboard art.

I've never tried the chalkboard method that my crafty friends have been making,
so thought that I'd make some frame tags!

 photo DSC_1237_zps0d3f3229.jpg

Aren't they beautiful tags?
I'm actually thrilled with how pretty it looks and how simple it is to make!

Here's HOW:
I used a Canvas Corp Chalkboard cardstock,
smeared a bit of white chalk onto it,
and then stamped it in white ink (I used pigment ink here)!
Easy!

 photo DSC_1234_zpsf34d5e7d.jpg

These would be so cute just clipped onto a ribbon on a gift!

 photo DSC_1235_zps6a79ce2b.jpg

or one could easily just make a card instead!

 photo DSC_1249_zps63a56943.jpg

Would make a beautiful magnet board decor, too!

So... see how much fun you can have with these kits?
If you haven't yet and would like to sign up -
see above for various membership links :)

Lastly, but not least, I had to make a card with one of the new releases from last week.

 photo DSC_1451_zps3eb52c65.jpg

As soon as I saw this Do Not Bend stamp
I KNEW that this mailbox file would be the one!
(it's actually the same idea as my family's latest Christmas card),
but still looks all cute done up in different papers and color scheme.
I used My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline papers :)

...and so, here's the sale deal.

Sew Sweet! Notions box.

Oh gosh!
It's been almost two weeks since I last posted!
How could I let that happen to me?
I've been actually really busy (family wise and crafting!) and do have lots to share,
but the weather has NOT been coorporating with me!

Since I don't have the professional lighting and such,
I have to wait for the PERFECT time to take pics of my projects.
(although they may not necessary happen)
I like pictures taken in the afternoon lighting (casts a warmer tone)
but it's also the time I'm out and about trying to get things done while kids are in school.

Anyway - thought that I'd share a fun little project with you today -
it's a sewing notions box!!!

 photo DSC_1430_zps1ed61599.jpg

Isn't it adorable?

I've had this paper collection FOREVER, and makes me happy that I finally got around to using it!
It's super cute, and vintagy - a Material Girl line.

This BOX comes from one of the latest collections from SVG Cuts, and put a sewing twist to it.

 photo DSC_1432_zpsb9cddc49.jpg

The flowers are actually also SVG Cuts files, too,
but since I wanted to give the same feel as what's on the papers,
I trimmed the upper layer of petals off into a triangular shape.

 photo DSC_1428_zpsf254dc9b.jpg

The measuring tape is a part of the paper collection,
but I pleated it to add some interest to the strip.

Ahhh! and I so love these little notions...
The flower and spool buttons are oh, so cute,
but I especially love the buttons on the tag and twine wound up on a spool with a needle through it.
Oh, and it's cut off here, but the zig zag stitching cut that you see at the side adds, too!

 photo DSC_1425_zpsd72fb488.jpg

And, if you open the box... SO MUCH fits in!
Makes a perfect gift box for those crafty friends!

(My BOX was made at the original intended size)

Hope that you liked my project today  -
thanks for stopping by!

Oh, and don't forget that the SVG Cuts are having their 25% off sale right now with coupon: MEMORIAL2013, so make sure that you pick up all the files that you've always wanted!

Unity Thursday - Always something for everyone!

Hooray for another big release day over at Unity!
I just LOVE these days...
there's always something for everyone!

Hope that you're stopping by from Shemaine's blog -
if not, then that's okay -
just carry on and make sure you visit them all as there's SO MUCH to see today,
and as always - 3 lucky commenters from the hop gets a $20 gift certificate to the store!

Thienly Azim - YOU ARE HERE

I've made a few things to share with ya today -
I'm excited!

First up is a new ANGIEgirl release...

 photo DSC_1315_zps53a176f9.jpg

Isn't she gorgeous?
(You like the shape of the card? Today's simple card bases were from this kit
and the papers are from Echo Park Paradise Beach)

 photo DSC_1317_zpsf3898288.jpg

I used stickles to add some glitter onto her hair and her fins,
and glossy accents onto her top :)
It's even prettier in person!

AND what better time to have an ANGIEguy release!
Father's Day is coming up and such a stamp to use on a card!
Comes with fun sentiments, too!

 photo DSC_1310_zps1ab73804.jpg

The colors for this card was inspired by the Family Man Kit from Echo Park -
and used their papers/stickers to complete the card.

 photo DSC_1311_zpse0b92564.jpg

 There's two other ANGIE releases,
and I think there isn't a better time than this to get them all!

 photo promo7_zpsf22c164b.jpg

Now, onto something different!
Something we've never seen here on Unity before...
it's a WILDLIFE at Unity stamp!

These are GORGEOUS -
so much detail and it's pretty enough to use as the 'MAIN' art!

I've created two things with them today -

 photo DSC_1326-1_zpseb5e44cd.jpg

See what I mean?
I just fell in LOVE with these stamps!
(I just need a 'fish' sentiment kit now!)

The sentiment that I used here is from Donna Downey imperfection is beauty.
The card base is from here.

 photo DSC_1320_zps643fae1f.jpg

I LOVE the look of stamped images on fabric and had to make another one!

 photo DSC_1323_zpsbcc4a239.jpg

This is SO MUCH fun!

The stamped image was backed with brown and natural burlap
and was adhered onto a cotton muslin bag using eyelets.
I changed the 'string' to brown and added a button and a flair...
and a sentiment from Deer Friend.

 photo DSC_1324_zps82ca060e.jpg

This is SIMPLE to make, and makes a stunning gift bag for that special someone!

These are ALSO at an amazing deal this weekend -
all bundled up!

 photo promo6_zpsd4410e38.jpg

Oh, lastly but not least -
I had a project that I shared on the Unity blog this Tuesday and I'm sharing that now here :)

It's a travel inspired card - using stamps/paper from Cosmo Cricket Jolly Ride!
 photo DSC_0657-1_zpsccdee025.jpg

I love dimension, so lots of foam tape, stitching, epoxy, etc were used to create the look.

 photo DSC_0662_zpsb824efac.jpg

Now, onto a few more things before I let you leave here!
A new Fit Kit to go with the rest of the 'project life' page sttamps!

 photo promo5_zps56e1a5d9.jpg

These are FABULOUS kits and half price when bought together!

Here's the JUNE sentiment kit!
(This is $10 for THIS MONTH ONLY -
after that, it'll be $26!)

 photo promo8_zps163b4973.jpg

...and the new {be inspired} challenge starts today!
Look at the BEAUTIFUL colors that you'll get to use!

(You may either follow the colors or the sketch ONLY, or DO BOTH -
the only requirement is that you have to use Unity stamps!
Fair enough?)

 photo inspired_zps85eaf2e9.jpg

Lastly but not least -
don't forget to check out the sale!
AMAZING DEALS going on this week
(Angela got a promo withdrawl since we didn't have one last week,
and now she's gone crazy! lol.
Look at the markdowns!)

 photo promo3_zpsa18942e2.jpg

When life give you LIMES...

Hooray for another beautiful Friday!

I've got a pretty busy weekend ahead  -
seeing a friend that I haven't seen for a few years,
and me hosting the Mother's Day dinner on Sunday for both moms :)

The weather in Calgary has finally come around and for the past few days,
it really does feel like summer!
It's makes me feel so excited!

Anyway - I've got a quick but cute project to share with ya today!

I used the flat Margarita file from last week's SVG Cuts collection -
and make a 3D Margarita with it!

 photo DSC_1304_zps205ffbbe.jpg

Would anyone like a glass?
Doesn't it look so yummy?
I was craving a glass of this SO BAD while I was making it!

 photo DSC_1302_zps610d1747.jpg

Don't the glitter look like sugar?
YUM!

 photo DSC_1301_zps3b78aa56.jpg

For those that are interested in making it -
all you need is:

Margarita Card (use any size - I used the size it opens up at)

4 - glass_light_blue.svg (acetate)
10 - glass_light_green.svg (light green)
10 - margarita.svg (olive green)
10 - margarita_fruit.svg (glittery light green) (only need one of the lime circle though!)
1 - lime_rind.svg (glittery dark green)
1 - lime_white.svg (cream)
4 - 2.6" circle (light green - for the base of the glass)
glitter flakes (used Martha Stewart snow glitter)

(sentiment from Unity Stamp Company
buttons,crinkled ribbons,leaf pin,green wire mesh, straw

Instructions:

1. Cut out all pieces and score vertically down the middle for all pieces except for lime files.
2. Glue the glass_light green.svg on the inside of the folded acetate.
3. Adhere one side of the glass_light green.svg on the outside of the folded actate.
4. Take the 'unglued' side and adhere onto another piece of acetate cut.
5. Glue another glass_light_green.svg onto the inside of the actetate.
6. Repeat - until all pieces are used.
The last panel should adhere back onto the other side of the initial acetate piece.
7. Glue all the circles together, which creates a sturdy base.
8. Adhere the margarita glass onto this circle base.
9. Put glue on the top portion of the glass and dip into 'glitter' (fake sugar)
10. Attach lime and straw and embellish!

It's pretty easy and it's so cute!

Now, onto the NEW KIT for the week!
(New kit/collection is always FREE with purchase of $9.98 or more!)

Oooh, I cannot wait to make this to add to my truck collection!
I've made a dump truck and just recently an ice cream truck.
now this!
AHHH!
It's a FIRETRUCK!!!

Oh, another thing that I've been pretty excited about is the popcorn cup!
There is another one in THIS KIT, but is MUCH bigger...
(requires 4 panels - an adult size popcorn)
and I requested Mary to make a 'one-piece' one (for kiddies)!
and yay!!!
We've got one in this kit!

With this kit, whether it be for a Memorial DayPatiotic Day or just a birthday -
you're gonna be partyin' in style!

Alrighty friends -
I've got lots to do -
so better get back to my cleaning and prepping for company!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Wonderland Lamp - SVG Cuts DT project.

Hellooo!!!
I am SO EXCITED to be sharing my project with you all today!
This is probably one of my fave projects that I've ever done,
so I hope that you'll like it as much as I do!

I've been loving the store 'Anthrolopologie' lately -
not only their shabby chic clothing,
but for all their vintage inspired decor items for the home.

I came across their teapot lamp on Pinterest one day,
and I just fell in love with it.

This just happened to be the same week Mary made the lamp file,
and of course, with her amazing teapot and cups,
I knew that it would be a cool project to make out of paper!
... and it's a perfect gift for Mother's Day!

As soon as I showed it to the fellow SVG Cuts DT members,
they said that it totally looks like something out from Alice in Wonderland.
So, as Tamara suggested this name -
Wonderlamp is the name that was given to this project!
(Thanks Tamara for thinking of the name -
the names I think of are lame, so this was great!)

Anyway - here it is!

 photo DSC_1176_zpsc6480aa1.jpg

I just loved making this so much.

The challenging part about making this was trying to decide what sizes to have each of the elements at.
I went through numerous teapots, teacups, lamp shades, etc. until I found that PERFECT balance :)

 photo teapotlamp_zpsdf75c290.jpg

You can see all the 'unused' cuts here - had to take a pic before I threw them away!

 photo DSC_1187_zps90c33632.jpg

The lamp shade was made using the 'knob' file from the Octagon Box.
It's a tiny file when you open it, but by enlarging it and cutting the flaps off,
it made a perfect shade for the lamp.

I wanted something a little more 'feminine' than the shade from that kit,
and this was just perfect!

 photo DSC_1208_zps446d3912.jpg

The inside has the same 'rays cutout' from the lamp file,
but is place on a octagon file, instead of the original square file.
(Sounds confusing, but trust me - if you have the file - it should all make sense!)

 photo DSC_1216_zps1609e839.jpg

The top 'sugar' jar that you see at the top is actually a jar from this western kit.
I wanted a bit more 'elements' than the cup and the pot itself,
and by adding handles at the sides - it totally passed as a part of the tea set!

If you kinda look 'down' at the lamp - here's the view! (my fave pic!)

 photo DSC_1206_zps178c4052.jpg

This lamp is acutally really sturdy.
For those that have made each these files, you know that the file is designed very well.
(I've dropped this lamp a few times, and it's still okay!)

Going back to the 'balance' of the project -
using the same plate for the entire project wasn't interesting enough.
Thankfully, while I was designing this -
Mary came out with a pot plate that was exactly what I needed!

 photo DSC_1182_zps42f00420.jpg

The flowers that you see here are from here.
This is probably one of my fave Mary's flowers -
they look so cute rolled up and adds so much to any project!

 photo DSC_1189_zps6b30a99c.jpg

A cute little teaspoon at the base just completed the 'plain' base.
Not it looks more interesting!

Now, I place a battery operated tealight into this,
and this is what it looks like!

 photo DSC_1221_zpsd4b95573.jpg

Not so functionally bright, but adds so much to the 'tea' table.

Wouldn't it be so amazing to make this,
invite your mom over for tea
and give this to her???

For those of you that are interested in making it -
full file dimensions and instructions are on SVG Cuts blog.

Collections used:

If you have any questions - feel free to ask me!
(I'd be so honored to know that you're making it!)

Ooooh, and before I let you go -
did you see the latest kit?
It's so amazing - and would be SO cute for summer gift giving!
(This is free this week with a purchase of $9.98 or more!
COUPON: FREEGIFT)

I made something fun  -
will share it later this week!

Alrighty - that's it guys!
Have a beautiful day!
